Nymph · Trout · Grayling · Intermediate · 1 version
Classic Recipe
- Hook Hanak H400BL barbless jig hook, 16 (14-18)
- Thread Red 70 denier
Materials
- Bead Silver-nickel slotted tungsten bead, 3.2mm (1)
- Tail Coq de Leon fibers, pardo (5-6 fibers)
- Body Pearl tinsel (large) over red thread (wrapped body)
- Coating UV clear resin (thin) (over body)
How to tie it
- Slide the silver-nickel slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot forward, and start red thread behind it.
- Tie in 5-6 Coq de Leon fibers for a tail about one shank length long and bind the butts forward.
- Build a smooth red thread underbody the full length of the shank, the red glowing through the flash is the Rainbow Warrior signature.
- Tie in the pearl tinsel at the tail and wrap it forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, so the red shows through, and tie off.
- Whip finish and coat the entire body with a thin layer of UV resin, then cure. The dense resin shell sinks the fly fast to the strike zone.
