  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), barbless, #12-#16
  • Thread Red 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Silver slotted tungsten (1 (3.0-3.3mm))
  • Weight Lead-free wire, .015 (7-10 turns)
  • Tail Coq de Leon, pardo (Small pinch)
  • Abdomen Peacock herl (3-4 herls)
  • Rib Silver wire, small (1 strand)
  • Wing case/Flashback Pheasant tail + pearl flash over (Small bunch + 1 strand)
  • Thorax Rainbow sow-scud dubbing (Pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver bead to the eye, mount the jig hook, and wrap 7-10 turns of lead into the back of the bead; start red thread.
  2. Tie in a short pardo coq de Leon tail about one shank-third long at the bend.
  3. Bind in the silver rib and a small bunch of pheasant tail plus a strand of pearl flash for the wing case, both trailing back.
  4. Twist and wrap peacock herl forward as a plump abdomen to the 65% mark.
  5. Counter-wrap the silver rib in 4-5 evenly spaced turns to protect the herl, then snip.
  6. Dub a rainbow sow-scud thorax to the bead, fold the pheasant-tail and flash wing case over it, pin behind the bead, and whip finish.
