  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), barbless, #12-#18
  • Thread Red (UTC 70) 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Copper or gold slotted tungsten (1, sized to hook)
  • Weight Lead-free wire, .015 (6-8 turns (optional))
  • Tail Coq de Leon, pardo (Small pinch)
  • Body Pheasant tail fibers, natural (5-6 fibers)
  • Rib Copper wire, small (1 strand)
  • Collar/Hotspot UV/hot pink ice dub (Pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, mount the jig hook, and add optional lead wraps behind the bead; start thread.
  2. Tie in a short coq de Leon tail about one-third of a shank long at the bend.
  3. Bind in the copper rib, then tie in the pheasant tail by the tips and wrap it forward to just short of the bead.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib in 5-6 evenly spaced turns to segment and reinforce, then snip.
  5. Dub a bright pink ice-dub collar behind the bead as a hotspot, keeping it short.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
