How to tie it
Mount the size 10 FW552 with the 4.6mm silver bead and lead-free wraps, then start orange 140 right behind the wraps so the body starts even from the first turn.
Pluck about a dozen olive brown marabou fibers off the stem and tie the tail in about two and a half body lengths long, binding the butts forward to just behind the lead. Getting that transition even now is what keeps the finished fly smooth.
Tie olive Straggle String in at the tail and then take the orange thread all the way forward to behind the bead, deliberately building a solid, even orange underbody. This is the trick of the fly and you will see it later.
Wrap the straggle string forward in touching wraps. Even touching, the orange bleeds through the gaps and gives the body a two-tone look you cannot get from the chenille alone. Tie it off behind the bead.
Whip finish twice: once for durability and once to build a small orange hot spot right behind the bead.
Coat the head with Solarez Bone Dry. A streamer this small takes a beating and the resin is what keeps those thread wraps from unwinding.
