Start the thread at the bend and wrap a tag of 3-4 turns of flat gold tinsel.
Tie in a small bunch of barred wood duck fibers for the tail, showing two black bars. About half a shank length long.
Tie in 4-6 peacock herls by their tips, twist them loosely around the thread for durability, and wrap a full herl body forward to two eye-widths behind the eye.
Stack a sparse clump of yellow bucktail and tie it in as the wing, extending to the tip of the tail.
Tie in two short red neck hackle tips flat on top of the wing, about one-third the wing length. The flash of red draws strikes from aggressive fall fish.
Add a short jungle cock nail on each side as cheeks (Edson's originals used brass 'Edson eye' plates).
