Reference Recipe
- Hook dry fly, 10-12
- Thread tan/brown 14/0
Materials
- Tail Dark ginger material (few fibers)
- Body Fawn tan (dubbing)
- Wings Barred pectoral fins (wood duck, upright divided)
- Hackle Brown and grizzly hackle (one each, mixed)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start tan thread.
- Tie in a few dark ginger fibers at the bend for a tail one shank long.
- Post and divide upright barred wood-duck wings at the 65% mark.
- Dub a fawn-tan body from bend to wing base.
- Tie in one brown and one grizzly hackle behind the wings.
- Take 3-4 turns of each hackle around the wing base, then tie off.
- Whip finish at the eye and cement.
