- Hook Standard nymph hook, 12-16
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Bead Silver bead (1, sized to hook)
- Goose biots Brown goose biots (2 (tail))
- Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (3-4 strands (body))
- Flat tinsel Gold oval tinsel (fine, for rib)
- Goose biots White goose biots (2 (wing))
- Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 (collar))
How to tie it
- Slide a silver bead to the eye and mount the hook in the vise.
- Start the thread and tie in two brown goose biots at the bend, splayed as a forked tail.
- Tie in the fine gold tinsel for the rib.
- Tie in peacock herl and wind a chunky body to just behind the bead; secure.
- Rib forward with the gold tinsel in open turns; secure and trim.
- Tie in two white goose biots flat over the back as a V-wing behind the bead.
- Wind one or two turns of brown hen hackle as a collar and sweep the fibres back.
- Whip finish behind the bead.
