Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 1-2XL nymph hook, 10-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Gold bead Gold bead (1)
  • Brown goose biots (tail) Brown goose biots (2)
  • Peacock herl body Natural peacock herl (3-4 strands)
  • Oval tinsel rib Gold oval tinsel (1 length)
  • Brown hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1)
  • White goose biot wings White goose biots (2)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, start thread behind it and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots as a split V tail, each about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in the gold rib, then a small bundle of peacock herl.
  4. Wrap the peacock herl forward to just behind the bead and tie off.
  5. Counter-rib the tinsel forward in even spirals and secure.
  6. Wrap a brown hen hackle collar of two turns and sweep the fibres back.
  7. Tie two white goose biots flat over the top as a split wing behind the bead.
  8. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
