How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start red thread; the red hot-spot showing through is part of this fly.
- Tie in a few wispy fibers for a short tail and bind in fine wire for the rib.
- Wrap a pearl flash body forward to the 75% mark.
- Rib forward with 4-5 turns of fine wire to protect the flash, then break it off.
- Wrap 2 turns of peacock herl for a dark throat and thorax.
- Tie in a furnace hen feather by the tip and take 1-2 soft-hackle turns, sweeping the fibers back.
- Whip finish with red thread showing at the head and cement.
