Materials

  • Body Dark gray/olive material (dubbing, slim)
  • Underwing Dun microfibetts (CDC, sparse)
  • Wing Dark permanent marker (deer or elk hair, down-wing)
  • Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (one each, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread.
  2. Dub a slim, dark dusty body forward to the 60% mark.
  3. Tie in a sparse dun CDC underwing for float and movement.
  4. Stack dark deer hair and lay it over as a tent down-wing, tips just past the bend.
  5. Tie in grizzly and brown hackle and palmer both through the front third for a bushy, skate-worthy collar.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and cement, leaving a few hair butts as a head.
