How to tie it
Seat the 3.8mm metallic light pink bead at the jig eye, add six or eight wraps of.010 lead-free wire behind it, and cover the wire with fl. pink 140D so there is no step for the squirmy to catch on.
Lay a single length of squirmy material along the top of the shank and bind it down at the middle only, at the 50% mark, leaving both ends free. Use soft, spread wraps rather than tight cutting wraps, thread will slice this material if you crank on it.
Tie in the micro fl. pink chenille right behind the bead and let it hang, then bring your thread back over the squirmy tie-in point.
Spiral the micro chenille back and then forward over the squirmy in open turns, effectively lashing the worm to the shank in several places instead of one. This is the whole point of the fly, a squirmy tied down at a single spot tears off, one strapped down by a soft rib survives.
Tie off the chenille behind the bead, whip finish, and trim both squirmy ends so they are roughly even and each about a shank length long.
Put a small bead of Bone Dry on the thread wraps behind the bead only, and keep resin off the squirmy itself since it will go tacky and lose its wriggle.
