  • Hook dry fly (TMC 100), 14-18

Materials

  • Body Peacock ice dub (2-3 herls)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Wing Natural case (fine deer hair, down-wing)
  • Hackle Brown and grizzly hackle (one each, mixed)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start black thread.
  2. Tie in fine copper wire at the bend for the rib.
  3. Wrap 2-3 peacock herls forward as a rope to the 70% mark for a fat, buggy body.
  4. Counter-rib the copper wire forward in 5-6 turns to armor the fragile herl, then break it off.
  5. Stack a small bunch of fine deer hair and tie it in as a down-wing over the body, tips reaching the bend.
  6. Tie in one brown and one grizzly hackle and take 3-4 turns of each through the thorax.
  7. Whip finish at the eye and cement.
