Pull a good chunk of the fluffy fibers from the base of a Pheasant Rump Olive feather and bind them in at the bend for the tail. The tail should be about a quarter of the fly's length, and the tie-down wraps form an even underbody.
Tie in the Crystal Antron Chenille and wrap a fat body over the middle half of the fly, pulling each turn down until it stops moving before you take the next. Stop with about a quarter of the length left for the head. Bind the chenille off with three tight wraps and snip.
Pick a Pheasant Rump Olive feather with long fibers and tie it in as a collar in front of the body. Using hackle pliers, take one to two full turns only, so the fibers form legs, and tie off.
Tie in the Mono with two glass beads crosswise in front of the collar; the mono is flexible, so the eyes can be nudged into position.
Wrap the Crystal Antron Chenille around and over the mono to form the head, leaving the bead eyes sticking out to the sides. If the head crowds the eye, push it back before tying off.
Whip finish twice and snip. Perrault adds head cement later, in a batch.
