Reference Recipe
- Hook saltwater, wide gape, 1-2
- Thread olive GSP / 210 denier
Materials
- Tail Olive ostrich herl (rabbit zonker strip)
- Flash Pink wing n flash fibres (Krystal Flash, few strands)
- Body Olive ostrich herl (sculpin wool)
- Eyes Black ostrich herl (medium lead dumbbell)
- Weed guard Clear weed guard (mono loop)
How to tie it
- Mount the saltwater hook and start heavy thread; lash a medium lead dumbbell on top near the eye so the fly rides hook-point up.
- At the bend, bind in an olive rabbit zonker strip for the tail, about one shank long.
- Add a few strands of pink Krystal Flash over the tail as an attractor.
- Build the body by stacking and packing clumps of olive sculpin wool along the shank up to the eyes, then behind them.
- Tie in a mono weed-guard loop under the hook point before finishing.
- Whip finish at the eye, cement, then trim the sculpin wool to a rough crab shape.
