Reference Recipe
- Hook curved emerger, 18-22
- Thread black 70 denier
Materials
- Trailing shuck Brown permanent marker (zelon/antron, short)
- Abdomen Black ostrich herl (tying thread, smooth)
- Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
- Thorax Peacock ice dub (herl)
- Wing bud Dun microfibetts (CDC, sparse)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start black thread.
- Tie in a short, sparse brown zelon shuck at the bend, half a shank long.
- Lay a smooth black thread abdomen to the 70% mark.
- Rib forward with fine copper wire in 5-6 turns, then break it off.
- Wrap 2 turns of peacock herl for the thorax.
- Sweep a few CDC fibers over the top as an emerging wing bud, cropped short.
- Whip finish and cement.
