Drowned Trico
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook dry fly / nymph, 20-24
- Thread black 14/0
Materials
- Tail White/pale dun microfibetts (2 microfibbets, split)
- Abdomen Black ostrich herl (thread or slim dubbing)
- Wings White uni stretch (antron/CDC, spent)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the tiny hook and start black thread.
- Split two white microfibbets into a narrow V tail, one shank long.
- Build a very slim black abdomen forward to the 60% mark; a trico is a sliver, so use almost no dubbing.
- Tie a small pinch of white antron across the shank and figure-8 it into spent wings.
- Dub a tiny black thorax to lock the wings flat.
- Whip finish and cement.
