- Hook dry fly, 16-20
- Thread rusty brown 14/0
Materials
- Tail Pale dun microfibetts (2-3 microfibbets, split)
- Abdomen Rusty brown (dubbing, slim)
- Wings Gray flotation (CDC or antron, spent)
- Thorax Rusty brown (dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start rusty-brown thread.
- Split two or three pale dun microfibbets into a wide V at the bend for the tail, one shank long.
- Dub a slim, segmented rusty-brown abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
- Tie in a sparse bunch of gray CDC across the shank and figure-8 it flat into spent wings.
- Dub a small thorax over the wing roots to lock them out to the sides.
- Whip finish at the eye and cement.
