  • Hook standard dry hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Rear tag Gold middle (flat gold tinsel)
  • Rear hackle Brown hackle (one brown hackle)
  • Body Peacock ice dub (peacock herl)
  • Middle hackle White dry fly hackle (one white hackle)
  • Second body Peacock ice dub (peacock herl)
  • Front hackle White dry fly hackle (one white hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and wind a short flat gold tag at the bend.
  2. Tie in a brown hackle at the rear and wind 3-4 turns, then sweep the fibers and secure (the rear 'fore-and-aft' hackle).
  3. Twist a short peacock herl rope and wrap a body forward to mid-shank.
  4. Wind a white hackle at the midpoint, 3-4 turns, for the second deck of hackle.
  5. Wrap a second short peacock body forward toward the eye.
  6. Wind a final white hackle at the front, whip finish behind the eye and snip, keeping all hackle collars even.
