Double Fuego

Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook articulated streamer: rear hook plus front jig/streamer hook, 4-6 (articulated)
  • Thread Black 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Rear body Copper/gold material (metallic Ice Dub, brushed)
  • Rear tail/flash Copper flashabou (synthetic hair with a little flash)
  • Eyes Lead (large painted lead dumbbell eyes)
  • Front body Copper/gold material (metallic Ice Dub)
  • Collar Tan or olive d rib larva lace (marabou plume)
  • Head Sculpin (Bruiser Blend dubbing brushed and swept)

How to tie it

  1. Tie the rear hook: bind a short synthetic-hair tail with a few strands of flash, then dub and brush a metallic Ice Dub body forward and whip finish.
  2. Join the rear hook to the front hook with a heavy braid connection and lock it down.
  3. On the front hook lash large lead dumbbell eyes on top near the eye so the fly rides hook-point-up with a jig action.
  4. Dub and brush a metallic Ice Dub body forward to just behind the eyes.
  5. Wind a full marabou collar and stroke it back so it enfolds the joint, keeping it sparse enough to pulse.
  6. Spin a Bruiser Blend dubbing head around and in front of the eyes, sweep and trim it into a broad water-pushing head, then whip finish and snip.
