Reference Recipe
- Hook curved pupa/scud hook, 12-18
- Thread Black 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Bead Silver bead (one metal bead sized to hook)
- Body Black ostrich herl (black tying thread or Stretch Floss)
- Rib 1 Silver metal tape (fine silver wire)
- Rib 2 Red buzzer wrap (fine red wire)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (black Ice Dub or peacock herl)
- Gills White uni stretch (small tuft of white antron)
How to tie it
- Slide a silver bead onto the hook, push it to the eye, then mount the hook and start thread behind it.
- Bind in the silver and red wires at the bend, leaving both hanging.
- Build a slim, smooth thread body forward to just behind the bead.
- Wrap the two wire ribs forward together in 5-6 even turns so they run side by side, then tie off and break them.
- Dub a small dark thorax collar right behind the bead and add a short white antron gill tuft on top.
- Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and gloss the body with thin UV resin if desired.
