- Hook standard dry/emerger hook, 12-16
- Thread Black 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Rib Fine wire (fine silver or gold wire)
- Body Olive or black material (seal-fur substitute or fine dubbing)
- Rear deck Natural case (clump of deer hair)
- Front deck Natural case (second clump of deer hair)
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (one grizzly hackle (optional))
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and run a thread base to the bend.
- Bind in the wire rib, then dub a slim body forward over the rear half.
- Stack a clump of deer hair and tie it in at the midpoint as an upright, fanned rear deck, tips angled back, then trim the butts.
- Counter-wrap the wire rib through the body in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
- Dub a short thorax, then tie in a second deer-hair deck angled forward over the eye to form the front tier.
- Wind an optional turn or two of grizzly hackle between the decks, whip finish behind the eye and snip.
