Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Largemouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 4XL-6XL streamer hook, 2-6
  • Thread White 3/0 (210 denier)

Materials

  • Belly strip White uni stretch (one white rabbit zonker strip)
  • Back strip Olive or natural back strip (one darker rabbit zonker strip)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (a few strands Krystal Flash per side)
  • Eyes Stick-on (two 3D adhesive eyes)
  • Head/collar Natural deer (clump of spun deer hair)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a thread base along the shank.
  2. Bind a white rabbit strip to the underside at the bend, running well past the hook to form the belly and tail.
  3. Lay a darker rabbit strip on top, hide-to-hide with the belly, and lash the two together with a couple of thread stitches through the strips at mid-shank so they swim as one.
  4. Add a few strands of pearl flash along each side, then glue a 3D eye on each cheek of the joined strips.
  5. At the front quarter, spin a clump of deer hair to form a collar and packed head, sweeping the collar back.
  6. Whip finish at the eye, snip, then trim the deer hair into a bullet muddler head, flat on the bottom.
