UV2 rabbit strip (tail) Hot pink/purple uv rabbit strip (One strip, about 1.5 shank lengths)
Plush chenille (body) Purple chenille (15 mm, one length)
How to tie it
Mount a size 1 Mustad C70SD and build a solid bed of black 6/0 nano silk near the eye. A stout thread is essential for anchoring the foam.
Lay a 9 mm yellow foam cylinder crosswise on top of the shank near the eye, take two hard wraps, then figure-eight back and forth, pulling down firmly, until the eyes are locked and will not rotate. Leave them untrimmed for now.
Run the thread back to the rear of the hook.
Start the hot pink/purple UV2 rabbit strip about halfway along the shank and wrap it down to the bend, setting the tail about one and a half shank lengths long.
Tie in the 15 mm plush purple chenille at the rear and wrap it forward in touching turns, stroking the bushy fibers back with every wrap, right up to and a couple of turns behind the eyes so they are pinned in place. Tie off.
Bring the thread in front of the eyes and take several more figure-eight wraps, butting the foam tight against the chenille so it cannot shift, then build a small head and whip finish.
Shape the eyes last: measure both foam cylinders against each other so they match, cut them to length, then work around each one with the scissors trimming the edges into rounded booby eyes.
