Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved scud/pupa hook, 1XL, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver or black bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Butt Red buzzer wrap (thread or floss)
  • Body thread Black thread (thread body)
  • Rib Fine silver wire (spiral)
  • Gills White uni stretch (small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Wrap a short red thread or floss butt at the start of the hook bend.
  3. Build a smooth tapered black thread body forward to behind the bead.
  4. Counter-wrap fine silver wire forward as a rib and tie off.
  5. Tie in a small white gill tuft behind the bead, form a collar and whip finish.
