Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 1XL nymph/emerger hook, 12-16
  • Thread Purple 8/0

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Black or silver bead (1)
  • Dubbing or thread body Purple ice dub (as needed)
  • Wire rib Silver wire (1 length)
  • Soft hackle collar Partridge/hen (1 turn)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in the wire rib, then build a slim purple body two-thirds up the shank.
  3. Rib the wire forward in open spirals and tie off.
  4. Wrap one turn of soft hackle as a collar and sweep the fibres back.
  5. Build a small head and whip finish.
