How to tie it
Slide a 7/64 in gold bead onto a size 12 2XL nymph hook, mount it, start olive thread behind the bead and run the thread all the way back to the hook bend.
Dub a very small pinch of salmon pink Lite Brite onto the thread and take two or three wraps at the bend to form a tiny butt. This is what makes the biots splay.
Select two of the wider goose biots and set them curve-to-curve so the tips splay apart. Lay them over the butt and tie them in so they extend about a quarter inch past the bend, splayed to either side.
Tie in the small copper wire at the tail and wrap the thread down to just above the butt, leaving the wire off the back for ribbing.
Spin salmon pink Lite Brite onto the thread, always rolling in one direction only, and wrap it forward to build the body up to the bead.
Counter-wrap the copper wire forward, four or five evenly spaced ribs, and tie it off right behind the bead.
Tie in the golden olive grizzly saddle hackle behind the bead, trim the excess stem, and take only two wraps, keep the collar thin, then tie it off.
Tie in the wing one biot at a time: lay the first flat on top at the same slight angle as the tail, almost as long as the body, with two loose wraps then tighten; repeat with the second on the other side so they form a shallow V. Trim the excess.
Build a small thread head and whip finish three or four turns.
