Hook 60-degree jig hook (Togens H400BL), 10
Thread Fluorescent red 12/0
Materials
Slotted tungsten bead Brown bead (7/64 inch, one)
Angel hair tail Rusty olive (A small pinch, just a flash of tail)
Arizona Simi Seal body Brown brick (Enough for a sparse dubbing brush)
How to tie it
Fit the 7/64 inch slotted brown tungsten bead onto the jig hook (a slotted bead is essential, a plain tungsten bead will not seat on the bend) and lay a base layer of fluorescent red thread.
Tie in a small pinch of rusty olive angel hair for the tail, bind it back to the hook bend, then fold the remainder forward and wrap over it to lock it in.
Form a dubbing loop about four inches long and wind the thread forward to the bead.
Load brown brick Simi Seal sparsely into the loop, spin it into a dubbing brush, and pull out some of the extra dubbing as you go.
Wrap the dubbing brush forward to the bead, stroking the fibres back on every turn to build the body, and tie it off behind the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead with a couple of passes so a band of red thread shows as a hot spot at the head, and cut the thread.
Pick the whole body out with a dubbing pick, brush everything back so the dubbing blends into the tail, pull off any excess at the rear, and you have a thin, mobile leech.
