Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved pupa/scud hook, #18-22
  • Thread Black 10/0

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Silver or black bead (1)
  • Body Black thread
  • Wire rib Fine silver
  • Thorax Black dubbing (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally slide a small bead to the eye; start thread and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in a fine silver wire rib at the rear.
  3. Wrap thread forward in smooth turns to form a slim tapered body.
  4. Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in 5-6 even turns; tie off and trim.
  5. Dub a tiny thorax behind the bead or eye.
  6. Whip finish.
