How to tie it
Slide the 3/32 inch black nickel bead on with the wide end toward the eye and push it back. Start a fine 12/0 or 18/0 thread behind the eye, tie in a small clump of white Antron with a few tight wraps, trim, whip finish and cut, then slide the bead forward over the gill butts.
Start the blue dun thread behind the bead with a few wraps.
Measure the fine red and fine black wire to roughly equal lengths, lay them together along the side of the shank and tie them both in behind the bead, using a single wrap of thread per turn as you bind them back close to the bend so the underbody stays thin.
Lift the wires and take a couple of thread wraps behind them to give the tail a small cheater bump, then bring the thread forward and wind the body, spinning the bobbin to flatten the thread and building a light taper. Thin at the rear, slightly fuller at the front.
Wrap the red wire forward first in about six evenly spaced turns, tie it off behind the bead and wiggle off the tag.
Follow with the black wire, riding just in front of each red turn as closely as you can, tie off behind the bead and wiggle off the tag.
Whip finish the blue dun thread and cut it, then start the rust thread behind the bead, take a few wraps for the thorax, and finish with three or four whip finishes so the transition from body to thorax is clean. Cut the thread.
Singe off any stray thread ends with a flame, then pull the gills back and trim them short but full.
Coat the fly with UV resin or Loctite, work it around with a bodkin for an even finish, and set it in a cork to dry to finish the fly.
