Materials
Bead Super white (Medium, one)
Wire rib Copper wire (Fine, 6-7 turns)
Flashabou body Gunmetal gray flashabou (3-4 strands)
Pheasant tail thorax Green amherst pheasant tail fibres dyed (About 4 fibres, tied in by the tips)
Fabric paint wing buds Fluorescent orange egg sac (One small dab per side)
How to tie it
Slide the white bead onto the hook and start the olive thread behind it.
Tie in the fine copper wire near the rear of the hook and leave it hanging off the back for the rib.
Tie in 3-4 strands of gunmetal gray Flashabou just behind the bead, bind the tags back to about halfway around the hook bend, and bring the thread forward again.
Wrap the Flashabou forward, keeping the rear of the body very thin, then start doubling the wraps from about the 65% point up so the body tapers thicker toward the bead, and tie it off behind the bead.
Take two turns of the copper wire at the very back of the hook, then rib forward in 6-7 evenly spaced turns to the bead and tie off.
Tie in about 4 green pheasant tail fibres by the tips behind the bead and take only two or three wraps to form a thin thorax that steps the body up to the bead diameter, then tie off.
Whip finish right behind the bead, building a small amount of green thread to bridge the pheasant tail into the head, and snip the thread.
Rotate the fly in the vice so it lies parallel to the vice plane, and dab a small spot of fluorescent orange fabric paint onto the pheasant tail and the edge of the bead on one side, then repeat on the other side to make two wing buds. Let the paint set to finish the fly.
