How to tie it
Slide the 7/64 inch gold tungsten bead on with the small diameter toward the eye and start the pale olive thread.
Tie in the small olive Liquid Lace just behind the bead and bind it back to the bend, pulling on the material as you wrap to keep it thin.
Tie in the olive grizzly hackle at the 50% point and wind the thread back toward the bend over it, leaving some fibres to splay out at the rear as a short tail.
Tie in 2 strands of blue dun ostrich herl behind the bead and bind them back to the bend as well.
Lift the hackle and ostrich herl out of the way, take one wrap of Liquid Lace behind everything, then wrap it forward in open, evenly spaced turns to the bead, pulling lightly for clean segmentation and leaving a gap between each turn for the hackle and herl.
Follow the hackle up the body exactly in the gaps left by the Liquid Lace, all the way to the bead, to form long legs.
Trim the hackle flush off the top and both sides of the fly, leaving only the long legs hanging straight down.
Follow the same gaps up with the ostrich herl and tie off behind the bead.
Wet your fingers and stroke all the material down under the fly (do not trim the ostrich, only pluck any stray fibres standing on top) then whip finish behind the bead.
Give the fly a coat of thin clear UV resin and cure it, then lay a thicker coat of medium clear resin over the top as the shell back and cure to finish.
