Tyer Recipe

  • Hook jig nymph hook, 12-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper or gold slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon tail fibres Natural coq de leon fibers (small bunch)
  • Body dubbing or thread Brown/olive body dubbing or thread (as needed)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (1 length)
  • Hot spot collar (thread/dubbing) Orange or pink dubbing (few wraps)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the slotted bead onto the jig hook and start thread behind it.
  2. Wrap to above the barb and tie in a short Coq de Leon tail about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in the wire rib, then build a slim tapered body forward toward the bead.
  4. Rib the wire forward in open spirals and tie off.
  5. Add a bright hot-spot collar behind the bead and whip finish.
