Materials
Bead White (imitates the gills) (One, 7/64")
Wire, 0.2mm Copper (red also works) (One length for the rib)
Anti-static bag strip, 0.5mm wide Clear/smoky (One pre-cut strip)
Permanent marker Brown permanent marker (To colour the thread for the thorax)
UV resin Clear uv resin (One coat over the whole fly)
How to tie it
Slide the white bead onto the hook, mount it and start the wood duck thread behind the bead.
Lay the copper wire along the side of the shank, never on top, and bind it down so the underbody stays uniform, taking the thread right to the back of the bend.
Take four or five wraps just behind the wire at the rear to lock it, come back in front, then return the thread to the bead and hold the wire out of the way.
Tie the anti-static bag strip in right behind the bead and bind it back to where the wire is tied off, keeping the body thin.
Wrap the thread forward to build the body, tapering it slightly heavier toward the head, the wood duck thread colour is the critical element here, and finish at the bead.
Wind the copper wire forward in five or six evenly spaced ribs, finishing right behind the bead, then pull and rotate the wire to break it off.
Follow the wire up the body with the anti-static bag strip, laying each turn just in front of the corresponding wire wrap so the translucent strip forms a second rib with the thread colour glowing through; tie it off at the bead and trim.
Colour the thread with the brown marker as you wrap and build a defined thorax behind the bead, going back a little and re-colouring the thread as you go.
Whip finish right up on the bead so the thorax blends into it, and cut the excess.
Coat the fly with UV resin, spreading it thin toward the rear and building slightly more at the head, then cure with a UV lamp.
