Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved pupa/scud hook, #12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver or black bead (1)
  • Body Pearly grey anti-static bag strip
  • Wire rib Silver wire
  • Breather gills White uni stretch (small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide bead to the eye; start thread and wrap to a point above the barb.
  2. Tie in a fine strip cut from an anti-static bag and a length of fine silver wire at the rear.
  3. Build a thin thread underbody forward to one bead-width behind the bead.
  4. Wrap the anti-static strip forward in slightly overlapping turns to form a pearly translucent body; tie off.
  5. Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in 5-6 even turns; tie off and trim.
  6. Tie in a small white antron tuft at the front for breather gills and trim short.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead.
