Lite Brite Bronze peacock dubbing (Six to eight strands for the body)
Ultra wire, fine Black wire (One length for the rib)
Lite Brite Firefox peacock (A small pinch for the thorax)
How to tie it
Slide the hot orange bead onto the scud hook, mount it and start the olive thread behind the bead.
Tie the fine black wire in at the two-thirds point (about half an inch behind the bead, where the thorax will end) so the underbody stays even, then wrap the thread and wire back down to about halfway round the bend, forming a smooth, even underbody.
Pull six to eight strands of bronze peacock Lite Brite, tie them in right behind the bead and bind them back to the rear tie-in point, then bring the thread forward again.
Grip the Lite Brite in hackle pliers and spin it slightly to compact it into a rope, pulling out any strands that branch away.
Wind the twisted Lite Brite forward to just behind the bead, keeping the body thin, and tie it off.
Trim all the stray strands sticking out of the body with scissors until you have a clean, thin, tapered body.
Wind the black wire forward in five or six even ribs and tie it off right behind the bead, then trim.
Spin a small pinch of firefox peacock Lite Brite onto the thread and take a couple of wraps for a thorax slightly larger than the body but no bigger than the bead.
Whip finish right behind the bead and trim the thread.
