Reference Recipe

  • Hook Short shank or articulation shank rigged to a small stinger hook, 4-8
  • Thread White or to match 140 denier

Materials

  • Eyes/Cone Black or gold cone head (Small dumbbell or mini cone)
  • Tail White (or contrasting) material (Short rabbit zonker, one shank length)
  • Body/Collar Contrasting indicator fibers (Palmered zonker plus a soft hackle/schlappen collar)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (A few strands)

How to tie it

  1. Rig the small stinger hook to the shank, add a small dumbbell or mini cone at the front, and start thread.
  2. Tie a short rabbit zonker tail on the rear hook about one shank length long.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl flash to the tail.
  4. Palmer a short contrasting zonker body forward, then wrap a soft-hackle or schlappen collar and sweep it back.
  5. Seat the cone or figure-8 the eyes and build a small head.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and cement.
