Dolly Llama Gold Cone

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Articulated: front shank rigged to a rear stinger hook, 1/0-4
  • Thread White or to match 210 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold cone (One gold metal cone at the head)
  • Tail White (or contrasting) material (Rabbit zonker strip, one-plus shank length)
  • Body Contrasting indicator fibers (Rabbit zonker strip palmered forward)
  • Flash Gold/pearl flash (A few strands each side)

How to tie it

  1. Rig the stinger hook to the front shank with wire, slide the gold cone onto the front hook, and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie a rabbit zonker tail on the rear hook, hide side down, one-plus shank length long.
  3. Add gold and pearl flash along the sides of the tail.
  4. Tie in a contrasting zonker at the rear and palmer it forward to just behind the cone.
  5. Wet and sweep the fur back, seat the gold cone tight, and lock it with thread and a drop of resin.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and cement.
