Dog Pellet

Nymph · Carp · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard wet/nymph hook, 10-14
  • Thread Brown 140 denier

Materials

  • Body Brown permanent marker (Brown deer hair spun and trimmed round (or brown foam cylinder))
  • Underbody Brown permanent marker (Brown dubbing (optional, for the trimmed version))

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and lay a base along the shank.
  2. Spin a dense clump of brown deer hair at the rear, packing it tight.
  3. Spin a second and third clump forward, packing each hard so the body is solid.
  4. Whip finish a small head and trim the deer hair into a round-to-oval pellet shape.
  5. Keep it drab, compact, and pellet-sized so it sinks slowly like a real feed pellet.
  6. Optionally give the trimmed body a light coat of glue to firm it up.
