Reference Recipe
- Hook Short/medium-shank wide-gap hook, 6-10
- Thread Tan or brown 140 denier
Materials
- Body Natural/tan material (Spun deer hair (or tan closed-cell foam))
- Post Hi-vis orange (Antron/poly sighter tuft)
How to tie it
- Start thread at the bend and spin a clump of deer hair, packing it tight.
- Wrap through the butts toward the eye and spin a second clump.
- Tie in a short hi-vis Antron post on top so you can track the fly.
- Spin two more clumps of deer hair forward and tie off as small a head as you can.
- Whip finish, then trim the deer hair to a rounded, oblong biscuit shape. This is the messy part.
- Leave it buggy and roughly biscuit-sized so it floats and matches the bait.
