DNA Worm

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 1XL-2XL scud/nymph hook, 10-16
  • Thread Red or to match 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Copper or gold (optional) bead (Tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Body Red/pink/wine (DNA Holo Fusion or holographic fibers)
  • Rib/Segmentation Matching leather strip (Thread segmentation)

How to tie it

  1. Slide on the bead if used and start thread at mid-shank.
  2. Bind a bundle of DNA Holo Fusion fibers at the middle of the shank so the ends trail both ways.
  3. Fold the rear fibers back and bind them down along the bend to form a shimmering trailing tag.
  4. Advance the thread and secure the front fibers reaching past the eye.
  5. Segment the body with a few open thread wraps to suggest a worm.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
