Tyer Recipe

  • Hook wet fly / standard nymph, 12-16
  • Thread brown 8/0

Materials

  • body Olive or tan material (caddis-colored dubbing)
  • wing Medium dun material (hen or hackle fibers)
  • collar hackle Brown/ginger hackle (1 soft feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread mid-shank and wrap to the bend.
  2. Dub a slim caddis-colored body forward to about one-third behind the eye.
  3. Tie in a wing of hen or hackle fibers over the back, sloping down to the bend and enclosing the body.
  4. Wrap two or three turns of soft brown hackle as a collar and sweep it back.
  5. Form a small head and whip finish.
