Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard saltwater/flats hook, 2-6
- Thread Tan or pink 140 denier
Materials
- Eyes Black ostrich herl (Bead-chain or small dumbbell (for hook-up ride))
- Antennae/Tail Tan/pink material (Krystal Flash and a few bucktail fibers)
- Flash body Pearl/gold flashabou (Diamond braid or Estaz (the disco))
- Legs Barred rubber legs (A few rubber legs)
- Shellback Clear/tan wing slip (Thin skin or scud back, coated)
How to tie it
- Start thread and lash the bead-chain or dumbbell eyes near the eye so the fly rides point-up.
- At the bend, tie in Krystal Flash and a sparse bucktail tail as antennae reaching one shank length past the bend.
- Tie in the shellback material and the flashy diamond braid at the rear.
- Wrap the braid forward to build a shimmering shrimp body, splaying a few rubber legs at the sides.
- Pull the shellback over the top, bind it down behind the eyes, and rib it if you want segmentation.
- Whip finish, then coat the shellback with a thin layer of UV resin.
