Dirty Worm

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 1XL-2XL scud/nymph hook, 10-16
  • Thread Red or brown 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Copper or black (optional) bead (Tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Body Wine/brown/red (Squirmy worm or ultra chenille)
  • Hot spot Fluorescent red laser wrap (Thread collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide on the bead if used and start thread at mid-shank.
  2. Lay a thread base and bind the center of the squirmy strand at the middle of the hook.
  3. Bind the rear half down along the bend so one worm end trails past the bend.
  4. Advance thread forward and secure the front half so the other end reaches past the eye.
  5. Build a small fluorescent hot-spot collar behind the bead to break up the body.
  6. Whip finish and add a touch of cement, keeping thread off the stretchy material.
