Reference Recipe

  • Hook 4XL streamer hook (e.g. TMC 5263), 2-8
  • Thread Tan 3/0 monocord

Materials

  • Cone Copper/brass cone (Large, mounted mid-shank)
  • Weight Lead (.025 wraps behind the cone)
  • Flash Gold/copper/pearl Flashabou (Sparse, tied from the inside)
  • Belly Cream semperfli cashmere monkey (Temple dog / arctic fox body fur)
  • Wing Tan carapace (Marabou plume)
  • Collar Bonefish tan (Arctic fox)
  • Head UV tan material (Ice dubbing)
  • Eyes Gold holographic flex chenille (3/16 adhesive, coated)

How to tie it

  1. Wrap lead onto the mid-shank, slide the copper cone up against it, and start thread behind the cone.
  2. Build a spread-out skeleton of arctic fox and marabou behind the cone so it flares wide but stays sparse, half the fur you think.
  3. Tie flash in from the inside of the wing so it glints through subtly rather than sitting on top.
  4. Add a cream fox belly and a tan marabou wing, then a bonefish-tan fox collar in front of the cone.
  5. Dub a UV-tan ice-dub head ahead of the cone and set the adhesive eyes into it.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and lock the head with a drop of resin.
