Reference Recipe

  • Hook Tandem saltwater hooks (rear trailer wired to front hook), 1/0-2/0
  • Thread Chartreuse 210 denier

Materials

  • Rear wing Chartreuse over white (Long slinky/EP fiber, thin)
  • Flash Pearl/green flash (10-12 strands)
  • Body Chartreuse arctic fox (Braid over the hook connection)
  • Front wing Chartreuse over white (Long synthetic fiber, tapered head)
  • Eyes Silver/red material (Stick-on 3D eyes, resin-coated)

How to tie it

  1. Connect the trailer hook to the lead hook with hard mono or coated wire and start thread on the trailer.
  2. Tie a long, slim chartreuse-over-white synthetic wing on the trailer hook to mimic a needlefish silhouette.
  3. Layer in pearl and green flash, then bind down and move to the front hook.
  4. Stack a second long wing on the front hook, tapering the total length to roughly six inches.
  5. Form a smooth head, set stick-on eyes, and lock the head with UV resin.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and cure.
