Reference Recipe

  • Hook Popper/stinger hook (wide-gap, humped shank), 6-10
  • Thread Chartreuse or to match 140 denier

Materials

  • Body White/chartreuse material (Pre-shaped small foam or cork popper head)
  • Tail White/chartreuse material (Bucktail, one shank length)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (6-8 strands Krystal Flash)
  • Legs Barred rubber legs (2-3 pairs rubber legs)
  • Hackle Matching hackle (One saddle, palmered collar)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the bend and lay a thread base where the tail sits.
  2. Tie in a sparse bucktail tail one shank length long, then add pearl flash over it.
  3. Wrap a palmered saddle-hackle collar in front of the tail and sweep it back.
  4. Slot or glue the small foam popper head onto the front of the shank, cupped face forward.
  5. Poke 2-3 pairs of rubber legs through the sides of the body so they splay.
  6. Whip finish at the very front and seal the thread at the nose.
