How to tie it
Start the black thread about halfway down the shank and wrap back to a point above the barb.
Tie in a long piece of white Antron at the rear, leaving a short stub pointing back as the tail and the long remainder hanging back. Carrying one piece through the whole fly avoids the bulge you get from tying in and cutting off separate pieces.
Tie in the gold wire at the same point, right at the tail.
Wrap the thread forward over the Antron underbody to about the 70% point and back, building the body up just slightly.
Wind the gold wire forward in five to eight open turns and tie it off underneath the Antron, then cut the tag with your scissors angled to the rear so you do not damage the blades.
Build up thread underneath the point where the Antron will be folded over, working forward to just short of the eye so there is room to tie off and flare the post.
Tie in a few strands of pearl Crystal Flash directly underneath where the Antron will lie, wrapping over the butts through the whole front section so there is no bulge.
Fold the Antron forward over the top of the body as a shellback and tie it down tight with two or three wraps just behind the eye, standing the remaining stub up as a short parachute post.
Whip finish, then trim the post short and trim the tail so neither is too big.
