Diamond Jig Leech

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph/streamer hook (60-degree jig), 8-12
  • Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (Slotted tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Tail Black (or olive/rust) material (Marabou plume, one shank length)
  • Flash Pearl/holographic flash (2-4 strands Krystal Flash)
  • Body Pearl or opal material (Diamond braid or ice dub)
  • Collar Matching leather strip (Marabou or soft hackle, 2 turns)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted tungsten bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, then add a few strands of Krystal Flash over the top.
  3. Bind in the diamond braid at the tail and wrap it forward to just behind the bead for a flashy body.
  4. Tie in a marabou or soft-hackle collar and take two sweeping turns, then stroke the fibers back.
  5. Build a small thread dam behind the bead to prop the collar.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
