Body Wool (amber, claret or brown. Dubbed or wound) (full shank)
Rib Fine gold or silver twist (optional) (4 turns)
Body hackle A soft cock or game hackle palmered the full length (1)
Shoulder/head hackle A game hackle (partridge or grouse) at the head (1-2 turns)
Head Brown permanent marker (small)
How to tie it
Lay a thread base and tie in the palmering hackle (and fine twist rib if used) at the rear.
Wind or dub a slim wool body forward.
Palmer the body hackle up the shank in open turns and secure with the counter-wound rib so it survives fish. The full-length palmer is what makes it a 'bumble'.
Wind a soft game (partridge or grouse) hackle at the head as a slightly longer shoulder collar and sweep it back.
