Tyer Recipe
- Hook 1XL nymph hook, 12-16
- Thread Gray or brown 8/0
Materials
- Bead (optional) Gold or black bead (1)
- Mallard/wood duck tail fibres Natural mallard flank (small bunch)
- Dubbing body Gray/brown dubbing (as needed)
- Wire rib Gold wire (1 length)
- Wingcase Mottled thin skin (1 slip)
- Partridge legs Natural partridge (1 turn)
How to tie it
- Start thread behind the eye and wrap to above the barb.
- Tie in a sparse tail of mallard fibres about half a shank long.
- Tie in the wire rib, then dub a slim tapered abdomen two-thirds up the shank.
- Rib the wire forward and tie off, then tie in a wingcase slip.
- Dub a thorax, pull the wingcase over and secure.
- Add a turn of partridge as legs, build a head and whip finish.
